Mechanical/Commercial Insulator

    Wright Industrial Group, an affiliate of Wright Brothers Construction, is seeking, for immediate hire, mechanical/thermal insulators for expanding operations located in the southeastern Tennessee region. This is a journey-level skilled tradesperson position in mechanical systems insulation and related trade functions in support of client facility renovation and repair projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Install, modify, and repair mechanical systems insulation on heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) ductwork, boilers, tanks, vessels, chilled water systems, steam lines, domestic plumbing, and refrigeration systems.
    • Provide journey-level craftsmanship with use of insulation trade materials such as staples, wire, tape, cement, bands, or spray to apply insulation. Fabricate and install removable insulation covers, aluminum metal jackets, and other insulation trade materials, such as plastic, canvas, cement, fiberglass, urethane, Armaflex, and calcium silicate insulation.
    • Read and interpret drawings and technical specifications. Work from both written and verbal instructions, with or without direct supervision. Survey projects and order materials, supplies, and tools. Inspect completed work for compliance with construction documents and regulatory building and safety codes.
    • Support maintenance and utilities shops, and other campus partners, in the repair of existing mechanical systems insulation, including after-hours response to project needs and campus facilities emergencies. Work in conjunction with other trades and crafts on projects. Occasionally support other mechanical shop trades and project activities, including incidental moves, appliance setups, etc.
    • Maintain documentation of labor and materials expended for each project. Provide accurate accounting of hours worked on weekly timesheets.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the shop and at job sites. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
    • Provide team support in the maintenance and operation of the shop. Advise in the selection and stocking of materials and needed tools and supplies. Clean, sharpen, and adjust tools. Maintain and properly secure shop, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
    • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites to deliver personnel, equipment, and materials. Drive off-campus to procure and pick up materials and equipment for projects.

    Requirements:

    • High school graduation or GED.
    • Three years demonstrated journey-level experience in mechanical systems insulation and related trade functions in support of facility renovation and repair projects.
    • Three years demonstrated journey-level experience in mechanical systems insulation and related trade functions in support of facility renovation and repair projects.
    • Capability to produce quality work from drawings, specifications, construction standards, and written or verbal instructions with or without direct supervision.
    • Commitment to and compliance with organizational values, goals, and policies regarding customer service, job performance, and job-site safety.
    • Before final offer can be made, successful applicant must provide a current driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the most recent 36 months.
    • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
