This emergency slope stabilization is located in Polk County on U.S. 64. The section of U.S. Route 64 effected is the only principal access between extreme southeast Tennessee and adjacent North Carolina. The rock slide that occurred here took a portion of much of the west bound lane at LM 20.5. Whole the slope is being stabilized, the eastbound truck climbing lane at LM 20.5 is closed. One lane in each direction will remain open on US-64.
